i like the idea of Deity based Auras, actually. maybe you would have to do some heaping big string of quests for that god though, to get *that* aura

<edit> being dyed black does NOT mean your just dyed black...it means you have TONES of cash to be able to afford the black dye, which also means your high enough to get the cash in the first place. other shades, yeah, maybe, but not the black
(though, if you were realy lucky, and got some black dye drops and SAVED them up for you BEST armour, then it would be just dyed black)

black dye is only 4K....anyone who has played the game has enough gold to afford black dye. this game is NOT about having lots of gold...you don't even NEED gold.

It's 4k times 5= 20k....plus any additional weaponry you choose to dye. Nit-picky but I couldn't resist.

Best news? Attaining 1kk pts is FREE! So actually, who's being ostentatious?

without farming...or specifically killing for gold...I had 45K left AFTER I bought my armor at Droknar....now there is NOTHING left to spend money on...unless I decide I want the 15K armor(which is COMPLETELY unnecessary)...so I could dye myself ALL black and still have 25K left...and I would assume that this is the case for MOST players that didn't spend money frivolously...as I can't understand why my game would yeild a VASTLY different outcome than anyone elses.

ANYONE can have a character dyed all black....

a glowing Aura is something people with too much time want so they can show off how UBER they are in towns.....it's completely unnecessary.

and 1kk exp isn't free....the amount of time it would take me to get 1kk exp would cost me tens of thousands of dollars(REAL MONEY)...and ostentatious has nothing to do with money at all...its being outwardly showboaty for the sake of attention...and for no other reason.

frivelous? ah, maybe when you get to the higher end places, things drop more cash, but at 16, i have never had more than enough for one bottle of black dye evin if i wanted to have one.

i guess i should go pass through the areas you pass through, then i too, can be rich enough, cause i dont spend cash all the time, i sell almost every item i get and i still have to go out hunting for items and mats to get my next set of armour whenever i get to a higher area.

oh, you mean i should wear my old stuff till im rich enough to afford it (sarcasme)
like i WANT to spend all day dying cause my armour isnt good enough to let me take on the mobs in the higher areas than my last set...sheesh *rolls eyes*
oh, and i have never bought a bottle of dye that was more than 300, and i stick to simple shades of one color and dont mix....

Geez, you'd think it's the end of the world by the way some people go on about being against this aura thing. Personally I don't care if it is or isn't implemented, well if it is, I'd make the most of it, if not, meh.

However I'd rather the devs not waste time on something like this, get the important things done first. Then they can (if they are going to) implement it.

the sky isn't blue...it just appears blue because roughly 80% of the world is water...the reflection of light from the sun off the water makes the sky LOOK blue...the sky actually has no color at all.

Rayea: if you are only lvl16 you don't have enough experience to benefit from an Aura either...so it's not even relative to your situation.

Get ready....they're going to say you're not a very good player if you can't play to Droknar's Forge in your pre-searing armor.

And I completely agree. I just got my Droknar's armor for my monk. My mesmer is ascended and in AC51 armor. Why? Can't afford it and don't particularly want to go "farm" to earn cash and CERTAINLY don't want to sell items at exhorbitant prices.

Some people may be "independently wealthy" but a lot of us aren't.

It is my perception of what I see and, if it's reflections, it is blue. The mirror is blue if I hold it next to blue paper. Yes, yes, it is a reflected image but the image is blue nonetheless.

You need to recapture your childlike wonder of the world and the true simplicity of it all.

I was never a child...never had a "childhood"...and therefore don't have a childlike wonder of the world...I have a realistic scope of reality.

there is no need to implement a feature that's sole purpose is to allow idiot gamers to show off and call eachother noobs.

did i even SAY it was about me?

no, i didnt.
just because i have yet to go to this droknars place, or get to accension dosent mean im a bad player, it just means that i like to take my time. if i rushed through every game i bought, i would be bored outa my mind in a week, and bleed cash like a royal

i have said what i think, which, last time i looked, was what a forum was about.
if everyone only ever talked in a forum about what they were entitled to speak on, there would be very little said, and most of it would be boaring.
i dont see a *you may only speak about an aura for 1kk+ exp if you have passed the droknars forge area, or have accended yourself* declaration here.

It's all different levels of 'showboating'... As far as I'm concerned dye isn't that big of a deal, and I'm not saying that because I can afford gallons of dye because i can't.. But it means something to alot of people.

With all talk about pretenciosness (spelling), I notice theres alot of people who don't mind bringing in thier accomplishments in the course of discussion. I'm not knocking it but I think it's a bit of a contradiction to knock people who want to show thier accomplishments in the game.

No Doubt.. I like this Aura idea. Bragging is part of being human. I bought CE cause I like the glowing thing when I do emote stuff.

nobody ever said that was the case...your argument is that you don't have enough money to purchase black dye for your character....you ALSO don't have enough experience for the Aura..but by the time you do you will have enough gold for black dye for everyone in your guild...so it's all relative. Gold becomes far easier to get once you hit the desert.....regardless, dying yourself black is something EVERYONE can do...an aura is something ONLY those with no life outside of GW can do...which encourages the socially inept to brag about something...perpetuating the problems of nobody wanting to help noobs....rather they'd more enjoy pointing out that they are noobs and laughing at them...which appears to be far too common now(more so than it was a month and a half ago when I bought the game)

I am avidly against anything that allows the social rejects of the world to take out their frustration on inocent gamers trying to have fun....the aura idea will do exactly this. it will give those kids who have nothing to do but play Guild Wars 14 hours a day another rung on the ladder with which they can taunt and harass those who do not.

LOL...glowing or not, people are going to brag and be idiots.

Algren, you were never a child? You never had childlike wonder? I would imagine that, if that is truly the case, you could capture some of it through your own child's eyes. My daughter's take of the world is most refreshing as she sees it in its honest simplicity. *shrugs*

ofcourse people will always brag or showboat...but we don't have to encourage it.

I have no grasp on simplicity...my life was never simple...and it wasn't supposed to be. I am shocked and mystified by every little thing my daughter finds fantastic....but that doesn't allow me to capture the 'simplicity' of the world....I don't have the luxury of seeing the world as simple...not many people do.

Nice job, Manheim. How long did it take to earn that much XP? I ask because I have probably less than half the amount you have and I've put in A LOT of hours.

Btw, the sky is blue because the atmosphere refracts the light coming from the sun. It has nothing to do with water unless you're talking about precipitation in the air.

well, yeah, considering my guild consists of me and my friend, i would be able to by and dye everyone in my guild when i had accended.

and it wasnt the fact that i cant afford it, it was that you sugested that *Anyone* can dye themsleves black....
change it to *anyone who has gotten to accension or droknars forge* can dye their armour black, then i will agree with that.

Rayea: if you are only lvl16 you don't have enough experience to benefit from an Aura either...so it's not even relative to your situation.

yes, you did say it was the case. you said because i had not the skill and/or the exp, i could not comment on it

Then, Algren, I must be a simpleton and am truly blessed to work amongst children every day and come home to my own sweet child. Immersed as I am in their world, I find it easy to see things as they do.

Can I glow and not showboat? Is it the glowing that causes the showboating or the people?
If people brag and showboat cause they pay for someone to run them thru Drokars and have end game armor, what difference does it make?
